The GAG Layer – a protective barrier

The glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer of the bladder wall acts as a protective barrier against toxic agents like bacteria in the urine.1

A defect in the GAG layer may be the first step in the development of chronic inflammatory diseases of the bladder.2

Early repair of the GAG layer with GAG layer therapy (hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulphate) prevents development of chronic inflammation of the bladder.3

ialuril® Prefill is indicated to re-establish the glycosaminoglycan layers (GAGs) of the urothelial vesical tissue in cases where the loss of these layers can cause frequent and recurring problems (such as different types of cystitis of varying etiology).  ialuril® Prefill is also indicated in cases where the loss of the glycosaminoglycan layers (GAGs) is associated with forms of chronic inflammation, in which their composition and integrity appears compromised in different ways.
